What is CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. A CSA is a symbiotic relationship between a farmer and her/his community wherein, this community sees great value in having local, fresh, naturally grown produce available. In addition, the community realizes that growing naturally is extremely difficult and not very profitable and wants to support the farmer's effort both morally and financially. Through a CSA a farm supporter can pre- buy a share of the entire 15-18 week season and help absorb the risk of failed crops in a harsh season while enjoying extra returns in bountiful years. A CSA supporter realizes that her/his return in produce may be smaller or larger than their investment depending on the whims of nature but with the greater good of keeping the local farmer in business being primary.
